Allison Brooks Janney, an American actress was born in 1959. Her work on the screen as well as on stage have received praise over the course of her three-decade-long career. Janney received numerous accolades including her Academy Award and British Academy Film Award. The seven Primetime Emmy Awards were also presented to her. Also, she was selected for two Tony Awards. Janney was raised in Dayton, Ohio. She was born in and brought up in Boston. Her scholarship allowed her to study in The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art following her graduation from Kenyon College. Janney's television debut was in 1999, when she played C. J. Cregg in the NBC's drama The West Wing (from 1999 until 2006). She won Four Primetime Emmy Awards for the character. Janney was awarded the Primetime Emmy Award in 2014 for Outstanding actresses in Drama Series. She won this award for her performance as Margaret Scully in Showtime's drama Masters of Sex.
